About This Site

Kids Outdoor Gear Hub covers the things kids ride outdoors and the gear that keeps them safe while they do it: electric dirt bikes, drifting go karts, electric scooters, BMX bikes and helmets. Every review is written from real family use on a gravel driveway, a back yard, a dirt trail and a concrete pad, with the assembly, charging, adjusting and fixing done at home. We call out what each product does well, what it does not do, and who it actually fits.

Ride Safety

Electric ride-ons, go karts, scooters and bikes can cause serious injury. Always follow the manufacturer's age, height and weight ratings, read the owner's manual before the first ride, and have an adult supervise every ride.

A properly fitted helmet should be worn on every ride, along with closed-toe shoes. Knee and elbow pads are a good idea for new riders. Replace any helmet after a significant impact, even if it looks fine.

Ride on private property, away from traffic, pools, steep slopes and drop-offs. Never ride electric ride-ons on public roads or at night. Match the surface to the product: many go karts and scooters are designed only for smooth, flat, dry pavement.

Check brakes, tire pressure, bolts and the throttle before each riding season and after any crash. Charge batteries with the supplied charger only, in a dry place away from flammable materials, and never leave a charging battery unattended for long periods. Unplug once charged and keep chargers away from small children.
